[오늘의 생활영어] (somebody) can‘t help it; 어쩔 수 없다

(David and Hannah are at work in the office…)

David: Hannah do you have some aspirin or some kind of pain reliever?

Hannah: I think so. I‘ll look in my purse. What’s the matter?

David: I went to a going away party last night and I drank too much.

Hannah: Now you‘ve got a hangover.

David: Mostly I’ve got a splitting headache.

Hannah: That‘s what you get for going out in the middle of the week.

David: I couldn’t help it. A very good friend is moving to New York today.

Hannah: Do you think that‘s a good reason for being irresponsible?

David: It may not be a good reason but it is a reason.

Hannah: Here are the aspirin. I hope they work.
