The solo exhibition of German contemporary art master Markus Lüpertz concludes at HEREDIUM on February 28. On March 15, the special contemporary art exhibition "HEREDIUM SERIES" opens, featuring works by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Othoniel, and more. Rebuilt within a restored heritage site with a 100-year legacy, HEREDIUM has transformed the historic building into a vibrant space for culture and the arts. The name "HEREDIUM," derived from the Latin word meaning "a land passed down through generations," reflects its mission to bridge the past and present while envisioning a creative future. HEREDIUM’s recent exhibitions focus on showcasing works by contemporary artists who, while relatively lesser-known in Korea, have gained significant recognition internationally Visitors can find inspiration in contemporary art displayed in a unique space that preserves traces of the past. Currently, HEREDIUM is hosting a solo exhibition by renowned German contemporary artist Markus Lüpertz. Titled Sins, Myths, and Other Questions, the exhibition delves into Lüpertz’s groundbreaking exploration of the interplay between abstraction and figuration. His innovative "Dithyramb" concept challenges traditional artistic boundaries, creating a unique fusion of seemingly opposing elements. Under the slogan "Painting for Painting’s Sake," Lüpertz emphasizes the interaction of color and form, pushing the limits of the medium. This critically acclaimed retrospective has drawn widespread praise and will remain on view until February 28, 2025 Starting on March 15, HEREDIUM will present a special contemporary art exhibition, HEREDIUM Series, featuring works by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Othoniel. The exhibition explores various social issues, inviting audiences to move beyond binary thinking and engage in meaningful dialogue that deepens understanding and evokes empathy through the art. HEREDIUM’s Director, Ham Seon Jae, expressed, "We hope the Markus Lüpertz exhibition inspires visitors to explore contemporary art from new perspectives and discover diverse interpretations. The Markus Lüpertz solo exhibition, "Sins, Myths, and Other Questions," is open from September 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, at HEREDIUM (735 Daejeon-ro, Dong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea).
