DASAN Networks to Participate in Ukraine Power Grid Pilot Project
DASAN Networks (CEO and Chairman Nam Min Woo) is set to participate in the support project for the reconstruction of Ukraine's power grid and communication network. On June 14th, DASAN Networks announced that RA Giljoo, CEO of DASAN Networks Europe, attended the annual conference of the International Energy Cluster held in Kyiv, Ukraine, on the 7th and conducted a presentation introducing DASAN Networks, a telecommunications equipment company. Established in June 2018, the International Energy Cluster is a private organization in which Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania, and other EU countries participate. It aims to form partnerships and develop human resources in the energy sector, focusing on power substation design and construction, renewable energy facility development such as hydropower generation, and communication systems. On September 15, 2022, it reached an agreement with the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy to jointly take action for energy infrastructure reconstruction in Ukraine and is actively promoting the Ukraine Energy Infrastructure Reconstruction Project. As a full member of the International Energy Cluster, DASAN Networks is participating in a pilot project for the European Union-standard power grid in Mykolaiv, located in southern Ukraine, in collaboration with a domestic power line company. They are also discussing participation in air defense substation and 5G fiber optic communication network pilot projects. Prior to the conference, RA Giljoo visited Mykolaiv, met with Vitaliy Oleksandrovich Kim, the governor of the region, and conducted an on-site inspection. According to the company, the Ukraine reconstruction project will be carried out in three main areas: the outskirts of Kyiv metropolitan area, the eastern region of Kharkiv, and the southern region centered around Mykolaiv. DASAN Networks is specifically discussing the installation of modern high-voltage underground lines spanning a 1,000 km segment across the war-damaged areas in the eastern and southern border regions in collaboration with Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian state-owned power company. The event took place as part of the annual conference of the International Energy Cluster and continued with presentations and open discussions on annual business performance and resolutions of technical and operational issues by association members. RA Giljoo conducted a company introduction presentation and Q&A session on power and communication networks during the event. He also met with Hanna Volodimirivna Zamazєєva , the director of Ukraine's State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, and was requested to cooperate in the supply of modular combined heat and power generators that use the most suitable wood fuel for the Ukrainian environment. RA Giljoo stated, "DASAN Networks plans to participate in the priority reconstruction of power and communication networks and also explore collaboration opportunities in power generation through our subsidiary, DTS. We will support the reconstruction of Ukraine through various business partnerships in the future." Meanwhile, DASAN Networks has been expanding its presence in Ukraine for several years, establishing a partnership with Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and a communication security research institute, and hosting a fiber optic communication academy. Recently, they have also established an office in Kyiv, actively pursuing collaboration in various fields such as telecommunications and power networks. Participation in the International Energy Cluster in Ukraine has further accelerated their business endeavors. 강동현 기자 kang_donghyun@koreadaily.comnetworks ukraine ukraines power ukraine energy reconstruction project
