Scott comes home from work and sees his wife arranging flowers in the kitchen. (스캇이 퇴근하니 아내가 부엌에서 꽃꽂이를 하고 있다.)
 
Scott: Hi. Are these flowers from the garden?
 
스캇: 잘 지냈어. 저 꽃들 정원에서 가져온 거야?  
 
Evelyn: Yes. I picked them a few minutes ago. How was your day?
 

에벌린: 응. 방금 꺾은 거야. 오늘 어땠어?
 
Scott: As a matter of fact it was very unusual.
 
스캇: 사실은 정말 평범하지 않은 날이었어.
 
Evelyn: What does that mean? It doesn't sound good.
 
에벌린: 그게 무슨 말이야? 별로 좋은 말 같지 않은데.  
 
Scott: It isn't but It's not the end of the world.

Evelyn: Please don't beat around the bush. Tell me what was so unusual at work.
 
에벌린: 빙 돌려 얘기하지 마. 직장에서 평범하지 않았던 게 뭔지 얘기해 봐.
 
Scott: Today the boss told me the company is going to downsize in a matter of weeks.
 
스캇: 오늘 상사가 그러는데 몇 주 안으로 회사가 감량 경영에 들어간데.
 
Evelyn: Are you going to lose your job?
 
에벌린: 실직하게 되는 거야?
 
Scott: No. My job is safe for now.
 
스캇: 아니. 현재로서는 안전해.
 
Evelyn: Maybe you should start looking for another job.
