(마크가 최근에 받은 의사 진료에 대해 부모님에게 이야기를 한다…)
 
Mom: So what did the doctor say?
 
엄마: 그래 의사 선생님이 뭐라고 하든?
 

Dad: Yes so what's the word?
 
아빠. 맞아 어떻게 됐어?
 
Mark: He said he was surprised that my leg was healing ahead of schedule.
 
마크: 다리가 예상보다 빠르게 낫고 있어서 놀랐대요.
 
Dad: Didn't he say it would be about six weeks before you could play football again?
 
아빠: 한 6주는 있어야 다시 풋볼을 할 수 있을 거라는 얘기는 안 하든?
 
Mark: Yes but he said I might be able to play sooner.
 
마크: 예. 한데 그보다 빨리 경기를 할 수 있을 지도 모른다고 했어요.
 
Mom: How much sooner?  엄마: 얼마나 빨리?
 
Mark: He didn't say but I'm thinking it might be just four or five weeks.
 
마크: 그 말은 없었는데 4 5주면 될 수도 있지 않을까 싶어요.  
 
Mom: Don't rush things Mark.
 
엄마: 마크 서두르지 마라.
 
Dad: Your mother's right. You want your leg the heal properly or you could make matters worse.
 
아빠: 엄마 말이 맞다. 다리를 제대로 치료해야지 아니면 더 악화될 수도 있어.
 
Mark: That's what he said. I'll take his advice and let it heal the right way.
 
마크: 의사 선생님 말씀도 그래요. 선생님 충고대로 제대로 아물게 할 거에요.

*ahead of schedule: 예정보다 앞서.  
 
“The building is going to be finished ahead of schedule.” (저 건물은 예정보다 빨리 완공될 거야.)
 
*Don’t rush things:서두르지 마.  
 
“How can you say you love her when you just met her. Don’t rush things.” (그녀를 이제 막 만났는데 어떻게 사랑한다고 말할 수 있니. 서두르지 마.)  
 
*take (one’s) advice: 충고를 받아들이다.  
 
“I’m going to take my father’s advice and buy a car that has the best mileage.” (아버지 말씀대로 연비가 제일 좋은 차로 살 거야.)
