[JSR] 2018 Teen Trends

As we enter summer, some teen trends are vital to know for the rest of 2018. 2018 is filled with new and crazy styles. Some trends are even coming back from the 1900’s. Teen’s are getting more and more creative with fashion and design.

One trend for girls are mom jeans. Yes, these are the same ‘mom jeans’ people wore in the 80’s and 90’s! This style comes in the same colors as regular jeans: black, dark, and light blue. These jeans are usually cut above the ankle, folded up, and might even have rips in them. Sneakers, sandals, boots - mom jeans are perfect to wear with any type of shoe. They are fit to be a bit loose on your legs, so they’re comfy and stylish.

A trend that guys follow is wearing t-shirts over a hoodie. They are usually not the same color, so the layering can show that this design is a different style. The laces and the actual hood from underneath the shirt is taken out so that the sleeves, hood, and laces are all visible. Guys can pair this outfit with pants, long socks, and sneakers. This style is also very comfortable and easy to wear.

A style everyone can follow in 2018 is crazy glasses. Some are glasses are cut halfway horizontally with popping colors. The lenses are usually a color besides clear or black. Another trend is fanny packs: small pouches that can be clipped around your waist or over your shoulder. Fanny packs come in a variety of sizes from small to large and in one or more colors. Some popular brands for fanny packs are Patagonia, Herschel supply, and Waterfly.

Popular shoe brands for both girls and guys are Vans, Nike, and Converse. Many teens wear Vans that are black and white old school style, air Nikes, and high top Converse sneakers. Popular stores in 2018 are Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville and Tilly’s.

As we approach summer 2018, these trends are showing up all over the world. Some are new and some are trends that date back to the 1900’s. No matter how old these styles are, they are used today in very creative ways and many teenagers are following them very closely.
