Jean: Where have you been?

진: 어디 있었어?

Ray: Across the street giving carl a hand.

레이: 길 건너편에. 칼을 좀 도와주느라고.

Jean: What did he have to say?

진: 칼이 뭔 말 안 해?

Ray: He and Carol want us to have dinner with them tomorrow night.

레이: 칼하고 캐롤이 내일 밤에 우리와 저녁 같이하고 싶대.

Jean: Great. I can't wait. She's a very good cook.

진: 좋아. 너무 기대된다. 캐롤은 요리를 아주 잘 하거든.

Ray: What are we having for lunch?

레이: 점심엔 뭐 먹을까?

Jean: I was hoping you would take me out for lunch.

진: 점심은 나가서 사줄 거라고 기대했는데.

Ray: I would be happy to.

레이: 나도 그러려고 했어.

Jean: Do you want to catch a movie after lunch?

진: 점심 먹고 영화 한 편 볼래?

Ray: Sure. I have nothing else to do.

레이: 그래. 나 따로 할 일 없어.

기억할만한 표현

*give (someone) a hand: (누구를) 돕다.

“I gave her a hand fixing her car.” (그녀가 차 고치는 걸 도와줬어.)

*take (someone) out: (극장이나 식당, 클럽 등에) 데리고 가서 사다.

“I took her out for the last time.” (지난 번엔 내가 그녀를 대접했어.)

*catch a movie: 영화를 보다.

“We caught the first movie of the day, so it was cheaper.” (우린 첫 회 상영하는 영화를 봐서 입장권이 좀 쌌어.)
